Proposal: Some Systems Go

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 21 Jan 2015 13:19:12 UTC

Enact a new rule entitled “Systems”:

The ISV Jenny Haniver runs on numerous Systems, each of which has an integer Power Level between 0 and 10 kilovolts (kV), inclusive, and tracked in this rule. The Systems, their current Power Levels, and their effects are as follows:

* Energy (7 kV): The sum of all System’s Power Levels cannot exceed four times the Power Level of Energy. If Energy’s Power Level drops and violates that condition, Power Levels are subtracted one at a time, from the bottom to the top of this list of Systems, until the condition is met again.
* Life Support (8 kV): If Life Support drops below 6kV, all Crewmembers become Injured. If Life Support drops below 4kV, all Crewmembers cease to be Injured and become Disabled.
* Sensors (7 kV): If Sensors drop below 6kV, the Ship’s Computer cannot process any Subroutines. If Sensors drop below 4kV, the Computer cannot vote on any Proposals.
* Propulsion (3 kV)
* Communication (1 kV)

Embryonic, I know, but I think maintenance and sabotage of the ship would make for excellent “night actions”. Propulsion and Communication could relate to objectives. This could also tie in very nicely with locations, if we’re heading in that direction.

Mostly for .  But against for potentially infringing the Computer’s ability to vote.

“Power Levels are subtracted one at a time, from the bottom to the top of this list of Systems, until the condition is met again.”

Potentially causes the Power Level of energy to drop even further as a result of this clause. Was that the intention?

Why would the Power Level of Energy drop? The Power Level of Energy isn’t reliant on other Systems, so removing other Systems shouldn’t change the Power Level of Energy.

Change: “from the bottom to the top of this list of Systems, until the condition is met again”

To: “from the bottom to the top of this list of Systems, not including Energy, until the condition is met again”

against Pragmatically going with the flow so as not to slow the queue down, even though none of this can kick in yet. Idea is a good one, but potentially stopping the Computer from being able to vote (and veto) is a problem, and the power-saving feedback loop would be a disaster.

against Self-kill to keep things moving.
Apologies to Kevan for threatening your vote; it was motivated thematically, not personally.
