Some things.

I made some perfectly legal but morally dubious changes to the ruleset. There is a new cipher (IV) and some new rules. Feel free to CfJ if you don’t like where this is going, but I feel like things have slowed down enough for such things not to break consensus overly. Chiefly things are not moving so much, for whatever reason, so I will slowly start defining game actions and conditions of victory until they move, and then ease off.

If you see an error, inconsistency, etc. in the new changes, write up a post to the front page?

Edit: Since I used Cipher IV, this line constitute sufficient notice.

I think we just need more GNDT moves.
..oh, and exactly what are these new rules? I can’t get at them.

Just a technicality, though, did the new cypher involve permitting you to change the ruleset?  If so, is it in plaintext and not cyphertext? I don’t think any rule would allow you to add UNencrypted text to the cyphers.

Mm, some location effects, but I think I tightened up the wording. The fourth cipher is not encrypted, here’s the text:

“The Abbot may create or alter a Rule as e deems it fitting with game events, as long as notice is given on the front page that such an action has been taken. If a Quorum of Monks officially decides that the Abbot has abused this rule to the detriment of the game, the game enters Hiatus until a new Abbot is determined by a Quorum of Monks.”

So Hix no longer has problems, but your problems still persist? Is it the EE CGI thing?

It is encrypted if you like—say, ROT26. ;)

On re-reading I should change this entry to reflect that I used an encrypted rule.

I suggest coding it into pig latin.

I can read the ruleset now.  And since you have assumed dictatorial powers, please use them to add ‘the’ to the line “Abbot may not declare victory in eir own dynasty” and a few other places?

And you can’t edit an official post after I’ve commented on it.

I’m worried a bit at the state of the dynasty. We’ve gone from “Monks can add encrypted rules if the Abbot likes said rules” to “The Abbot can change the ruleset at a whim.”. It’s seeming less and less like “The game made by the players” and more and more like “The game made by the abbot”.

If it worries you enough, Rodney, write up a proposal to strike the offending lines. We can put it to a vote. Good to see that you are following along, though ;)

Bucky—I didn’t think this was official at first, but since it serves some game effect, I guess that it is. I am removing the offending line.

I just did.
