Something is happening

You all get the strange feeling that the ground is moving, the clouds seem to be whizzing past and those by the south pole swear its getting warmer.

EDIT: Those along the coastlines (namely Tec right now) can’t help but think they see something cresting over the horizon. It looks strangely like… land

EDIT2: As AL said, Aqua did indeed make a wish to reform the supercontinent. Course he did wish for it to happen over the span of 5 days so it won’t be fully reformed till late evening Friday. And this was before I got lamped btw. On the flip, ya can get out of the south pole now lol. Man, I’m so gonna have to figure out what to call the south pole now though. Once this is done its so gonna need a name change.

Presumably, since the Earth’s axis is now East-West, the earth is rotating around that axis.

Hmm.  Presumably…

Or else Antarctica moved.

the suspense is killing me, but only to the extent allowed by the rules.

Are the magnetic poles finally swapping? Or did someone wish that it was 2012? Or both?

Does anyone else think it’s weird that this post is at the “top” of the blog, when “newer” posts are lower down?

It’s stickied.

Maybe someone wished for Pangaea.

Sounds right, AL. I’m guessing those who bought yachts aren’t too pleased. Good luck calculating distances. ;)

DING! Nice call AL.

This is gonna be a nightmare… it still doesn’t make it easy to move out of the South Pole, and it’ll be pretty hard to calculate distances between the new “adjacent” continents.

Klisz:

Anyone willing to wish for the supercontinent to be broken back into its component pieces? I’d do it, but I only have 1 wish left.

Apathetic Lizardman:

04-01-2010 21:22:53 UTC

Hehe I have a wish that will make it even better…

Klisz:

KILL AL!

Considering it is granted, it should almost entirely change the game.

Darth, it wasn’t lizard who wished it. And ya have to find my lamp to start wishing again

@Darknight: I know, but AL says he “has a wish that will make it even better”.

Sorry, folks.  I was just dying to see what would happen.  Didn’t mean to over-complicate anything ;)

You know what this universe needs? A black hole. Yep that would do it.

Hehehe… uh oh.

The runner-up idea to Pangaea involved the disappearance of all oceanic water.  I was trying to think of something that would (hopefully) free the residents of the South Pole gulag and mix things up just a bit ;)

Proposal to calculate distances: Take the normal distance between the two points, then substract the distance of the segment of the line that forms at the points where the line crosses the ocean border.

It’s not exact but it would be an ok compromise.

My thoughts as well art

On a completely unrelated though highly amusing note, I just encountered the name “Jeff Sheets” on the Inform 7 website. (For newer players: In the Fifth Metadynasty, we had a rule allowing us to steal rules from other nomics. One of them said that “The speaker for the first game shall be JeffSheets”; Josh tried to pull a scam by changing his name to JeffSheets and using some references to the Round One ruleset, claiming it made him win. Kevan trumped it by noting that you could only win in Round One if you were a player.)

Uvthenfuv:

That sounds fun : )
Interesting, I used to play around with Inform 7…
I also have a déjà vu about that name, but that doesn’t count as I practically have déjà vu’s of pretty much everything these days…

Apathetic Lizardman:

Just don’t include major oceans when calculating distance. Is it fair to say all the continents have not changed shape, and therefore are the same for distance purposes?

Aquafraternally Yours:

05-01-2010 20:32:08 UTC

I think that’s a fair assumption.  Does this mean that Hawaii and other islands formed by volcanic upheaval will no longer exist?

Kevan: he/him

I suppose we should wait for an actual wording of exactly what happened, on the Universe page. If it’s actually Pangaea, we’ll need a good map of it if we’re calculating accurate distances.

Poor old Jeff. Although I’ve been thinking for a while that Inform 7 would make a great structure for a Nomic.

Klisz:

05-01-2010 21:07:42 UTC

Yeah, it probably would, if we could make a rule-changing system for it.
