Amend “No Orphan Variables” to:

An Orphan Variable is a dynastic gamestate variable which has neither a reasonable tracking device (eg. a wiki page, and within there is a protrayal of the variable, with a different portrayal for each of the variable’s possible values - including absence as a possible portrayal), nor a reasonable manner in which it can be determined from other gamestate variables, specified in the Ruleset.

An Individual may not take any dynastic actions that are contingent on the specific value of an Orphan Variable.

Amend (if it exists) “{{safehouse}}” to “(S)”

Orphan Variables was supposed to prevent this, but if “I know a guy” enacts, we’ll have a hole in the game which I’d like to fix.

Also, if this would be attempted to be exploited (being Safehoused invisibly), would it be a Special Case scam? Or a Dynastic one?

against I don’t think this actually solves anything.

As a side-by-side diff this is changing

  location in which it’s tracked

to

reasonable tracking device (eg. a wiki page, and within there is a protrayal of the variable, with a different portrayal for each of the variable’s possible values - including absence as a possible portrayal)

I think we could probably just replace “tracked” with “unambiguously tracked”.

against On further reflection I think it’s implicit. If a variable is being stored in an ambiguous way (like the recent proposal to add multiple Reality Tunnels, and have the wiki page list someone’s Location as “Reality Tunnel”), we’re not “tracking” it any more.
