Proposal: Symbolic Gestures

Popular 9-0 with more than Quorum in favor - Bucky

If “Identity Crisis” is enacted, this Proposal has no effect.

In the subrule “Avatar Activity”, replace every occurrence of “Name” and “name” with “Symbol Name”, and replace every occurrence of “Names” and “names” with “Symbol Names”. Then, replace “ten Symbol Names” with “three Symbol Names”. At the end of the paragraph, add this text:

For each list by Tier, put all of the words of all of the Symbol Names chosen for that Tier in a list and secretly determine at random the order in which those words are written in the Activity Report.

While the structure of a Symbol Name requires word types to be in a certain order, randomizing the order across Symbol Names means that, while you can put together 3 Symbol Names per tier, you won’t know exactly which symbol words go with which Symbol Name. It gives you a roughly 1-in-12 chance to get a Symbol Name exactly right, which is pretty close to the 1-in-10 chance of the original text. Combining this with a Mind Meld (if that Proposal passes) gives you better odds.

my vote will depend on whether Identity Crisis passes or not. could u please include a clause in this that nullifies it if Identity Crisis does pass, so that we don’t end up with another double-pass that breaks a rule like last time?

Done, appreciate the help working this out.

no problem! i do like this proposal, by the way. i think i’ll be happy with either idea for resolving this :0

although, u may also want to make it clearer in that last sentence that the words are supposed to be mixed together — as-is it seems like it might just scramble the words within each individual name?

Done, I think I covered it, but if not, let me know if anything needs to be more clear.
