Declaration of Victory: Tails I win

Passes early, 8-0 (quorum 5) with the Editor’s FOR vote. -Bucky

And after that whole mess of nonsense, the die came up 2, on This has gone on too long, and I win.

That sure was something.

for  I’m sorry it came to this.

———

In retrospect, my main mistake this dynasty was being way too invested in Ties Not Counting and way too certain that the proposal I’d just carefully worded to make them Not Count would actually make them Not Count.

For the record, my final Map was [HTH] Helping Hands from ruleset 104.  This would let me (and Clucky) score easily, but RaichuKFM would need to find a Correction Proposal somewhere (as well as a arrow -rich proposal, but they probably had one of those available).

———

Finally, I’m unsatisfied with how this dynasty ended because I very strongly prefer dynasties that end using the dynasty’s mechanics to proposal wins.  I’m also concerned that a majority of players were so impatient that they couldn’t even wait for “Otherwise” to enact.

For what it’s worth, I’m sorry, too.

It was weird to me, as well, that Otherwise didn’t have any votes on it for the longest time. Ironically, had it reached passing nearly as fast as This has gone on too long did, I could have self-killed the latter, passed Otherwise, and legally Scored my way to victory. But it didn’t, and I was worried something would be wrong with it, or somehow, and it seemed people wanted to see the coin flip.

I can understand the preference towards Non-Proposal wins, though I don’t exactly share it. At least not strongly. In this case, I think it was because things were going to come down to a legal by-mechanics win, for the longest time, and then a bunch of stuff kept getting in the way of it. Probably a good cautionary tale, at least in the stretch before everything turned goofy.

If I could do the last stretch over again, instead of my replace the wiki page Proposal, (Which I posted because I couldn’t find a non-clunky way of wording it that Historic Tomes didn’t mess with, and forgot I could just pull explicitly precedence. (Maybe it was still Marked at the time? It was a mistake on my part, in any case.)) I’d have just posted something along the lines of what I wrote in Otherwise.

As for Helping Hands, I’d joined that Dynasty too late to vote on any Correction Proposals, I’m pretty sure; though I could find an arrow-heavy one from scshunt IV easily.

I didn’t vote on Otherwise because I was about to go to sleep when I noticed the :) -> This has gone on too long proposal sequence.  I deemed those urgent enough to comment on, but judged that processing Otherwise wasn’t worth losing sleep over.  Then I came to vote on it and “This has gone on too long” had already hit Quorum.

Ah, yeah. That’s reasonable.

As someone who did stay up too late on BlogNomic last night, I think you made the correct call, really.

Re: HPH
Yes, I confirmed that you didn’t vote on any Corrections that dynasty.  You’d need to have participated in some other dynasty that defined ‘Corrections’.
