Proposal: Target Practice

Sabotaged. Failed by Brendan.

Adminned at 10 Feb 2015 18:13:06 UTC

Add a paragraph to the subrule “Phasers”:

A Phaser must be removed from its casing to be used. Removing a Phaser from its casing is a Strenuous action. An Android may remove its Phaser from its casing by posting a blog post announcing this action. No blog post is necessary if the Android is removing the Phaser at the time of use.

And it’s a really big phaser.

What?  Why not just make using the Phaser Strenuous?

This allows an Android to bypass the Strenuousness by revealing their Androidness.

The way that it’s worded doesn’t currently have that effect. Removing the phaser from its casing is strenuous whether you’re making the post or not.

Using the phaser should be strenuous, though, as we probably don’t want twitching Android corpses stilling firing off one last shot.  for and get rid of the useless stuff later.

Yes, but an Android could remove it using the public blog post, get injured, and then choose to use it. Or not make the public blog post, get injured, and then not be able to use it.

Small distinction, but still a distinction.

for Fox, your strategy of posting mechanics designed to get sabotaged—sometimes over and over—is starting to become conspicuous and pretty weird.

If you really wanted to sell this to the Androids, why not offer the ability to use the phaser as a Cerebral action under certain conditions?
