Proposal: Teams

Reword the rule Teaming Up to the following:

If there are exactly two Cooperative Scribes are in a Location, they are a Team.

For the purposes of all Dynastic Rules but this one that care about the Stress or Energy of a Scribe in a Team (a “Team Member”), the Energy of each Team Member in a Team is equal to the higher Energy in the team plus 15, and the Stress of each Team Member is equal to the higher Stress in the Team plus 3. However, if either member of a Team gains or loses Paper (due to a rule other than this one), so does the other; and if either Member of a team loses Energy or gains Stress (due to a rule other than this one), so does the other.

Scribes may be Cooperative or Uncooperative, defaulting to Uncooperative, and tracked in the GNDT. As a daily action, a Cooperative Scribe may become Uncooperative, or an Uncooperative Scribe may become Cooperative.

Trying to minimize the number of new stats in play here, while still looping this sensibly into playable, tracked stats. We should try to mesh existing things together better, I think, and come up with more mechanics, rather than continuing to add more and more stats.

Note: I appreciate the sentiment, but this proposal does in fact add more stats. What if cooperativeness was determined by, say, a Fame threshold?

Note: Well, it slightly reduces the amount of nominal stats, but, yes, increase in the number of actual working stats. I tossed around the thought of a specific means for deriving Cooperation, but I couldn’t find anything that didn’t seem clunky, and I thought proposing something sooner would be better than trying to think something up in private or protosaling. I’d imagine a pass and patch, or just a completely separate Proposal, would be better than editing this one, unless someone has a specific threshold off-hand.

Given the current out-of-control complexity spiral, I don’t want a new GNDT stat.

Would you have accepted this if, say, instead of Cooperativity being a thing, it was “If there are exactly two Scribes in one Location, they are a Team”, or do you just want to get rid of the rule entirely? (Also, I’m going to shamelessly beg for a Nice try though- though, honestly, I’m never not going to include that in an Against vote. It’s just a dumb mechanic, on principle, to punish Proposals that don’t pass.)

To be fair, and speaking of Too Many Stats, it’s only punishment if Gold actually does anything.  against  Nice try though

True. against Since this seems to be unpopular, but might not quorum by the time the queue gets to it. Nice try though -ing myself because there’s not really a reason not to.

If even working what rules we already have into playable state is falling victim to increasing the Too Many Stats problem, though, we should maybe stop adding random rules (and either finish out the Maps sent by then or refund the Paper spent on them) and move wholly towards synthesizing playable mechanics from what we already have.

Adding more rules is either going to result in a mess or a scam, or, more likely, a mess and a scam.
