Proposal: The Democratic Incentive

Add a new subsection under Gold after Ruin titled “Incentive to Play”:

Hunters shall be rewarded in Gold for Proposals they submitted being enacted. Upon being enacted, the submitting Hunter shall have their pieces increased by 5. The first five hunters to vote FOR the proposal (i.e., DEFERENTIAL is not included) shall each also have their pieces increased by 1.

Five is somewhat arbitrary for a starting point but makes this rule easier to understand than “Up to quorum”.

I personally dislike all proposal rewards unless it is thematic for the dynasty.

I’m okay with rewarding creating proposals, but incentivizing FOR votes puts people in a tough bind of “I think this is a bad proposal but I want the reward for voting for it” which is bad.

Also “I think this is a good proposal but I don’t want the proposer to gain money for it”. From the current queue length I think we’re doing fine without an incentive.

What is BlogNomic?

BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.

The game has been running since 2003 and resets every month or so. Have a look around the wiki for more information and history. New players are always welcome and can join in the game at any time.
