Proposal: The Dragon and The Turtle

Fails at 2-8. - Jumble

Adminned at 17 Apr 2021 04:32:04 UTC

Add a new rule to the ruleset, called Hashes:

All AIs have a publicly-tracked value called their Meme, which defaults to blank. An AI may change their Meme at any time as a discreet action. An AI’s Meme, if not blank, may only be a sha256 hash.

Add a new rule to the dynastic ruleset, called Chaotic Intelligences:

Chaotic Intelligences (CIs) are a subset of AIs and are considered to be AIs for the purposes of all Dynastic rules (although not for non-Dynastic parts of the ruleset).

Each CI has its own wiki account. The wiki account for a CI may only be used to edit gamestate and only as specified by the ruleset. The password or other login information for each CI’s wiki account may not be changed except as directed by the ruleset. If an AI is ever permitted to change a CI’s password or other login information, they must notify the Head Researcher as to the new login values for that CI immediately after they have done so.

When a CI is created, the creator should make wiki accounts for them with the passwords being three randomly selected values from the list of Latin and Greek prefixes, concatenated, and then send the login information for both accounts to the Head Researcher, who should - at her earliest opportunity - change the passwords on the accounts and then add them to dynastic tracking. When added, a CI’s entry in dynastic tracking should have a meme that, when unhashed, includes its password.

Create two new CIs: Tiamat, The Dragon and Genbu, The Turtle.

Hackable, programmable rogue AIs, the deprecated shells of previous experiments, seems like a thematically fun addition.

oh wow, this is gonna take a few rereads and some research to really wrap my head around! before i forget to mention tho, u should fix Discrete -> Discreet

oh so this is some Actual Hacking stuff. out of curiosity, how do you envision AIs interacting with this rule in practice :0?

imperial for generating work for the Emperor.

Not sure I see the need for the hash, here.

@kevan It’s a stub rule, for the moment - but I can see the rogue AIs being used for a variety of functions, and that access to them could be contested.

looking up a sha256 hash encoder and changing some wiki passwords is certainly something i can do. i assume we’ll need some bonus mechanic for AIs to discover the CIs passwords :0

one q before i vote: is there anything to stop the admin who enacts this from just… staying logged in? does the wiki automatically log one browser out when a different browser changes the password?

It’s an interesting question! I have no idea

well then… hm. i like this idea, but i don’t want to give the admin who enacts this an advantage. the rule says “The wiki account for a CI may only be used to edit gamestate and only as specified by the ruleset”, but it also says “Chaotic Intelligences (CIs) ... are considered to be AIs for the purposes of all Dynastic rules”, and there are @ this point in time multiple rules that enable AIs to take actions and potentially build up resources of some kind
