Proposal: ... the Eschaton?!

Vetoed to nuke the queue. —75th Trombone

Ok, so I hate the Rule “End of Days”. I mentioned multiple times that people were almost assuredly on Christmas break. The goal of this Proposal is to fix what I consider to be a somewhat mean-spirited game mechanic. Regardless, it’s days like this I love being a computer programmer ;P. Here goes:

modify Law 1.2, changing:

Some Protagonists are Idle, and shall be marked as such in the sidebar. For the purposes of the ruleset, excluding Laws 1.1 and 1.2, idle Protagonists are not counted as Protagonists. Admin may render a Protagonist idle if that Protagonist has failed to vote for more than a week, or if it has asked to become idle. Admins may un-idle a Protagonist at eir request - the Protagonist’s personal gamestate retains the values it had immediately prior to eir idling.

to:

Some Protagonists are Idle, and shall either be signified as or not as such in the sidebar.

Some Protagonists are Inactive, and shall be marked as such in the sidebar. For the purposes of the ruleset, excluding Laws 1.1 and 1.2, Inactive Protagonists are not counted as Protagonists (although may be explicitely referenced by naming them as such: e.g. “Inactive Protagonists” or “Protagonists that are Inactive”). Admins may Deactivate a Protagonist if that Protagonist has failed to vote for more than a week, or if e has asked to become Inactive. Admins may Reactivate a Protagonist at eir request - the Protagonist’s personal gamestate retains the values it had immediately prior to eir Deactivation.

I figure Idle Protagonists can be “signified” much as Admin Staff is “signified”, using a “%” or “&” or something next to eir name. Wording explicit to allow for only the small number of Unidle players to have such a marking.

modify Law 1.4, changing:

If a Protagonist leaves the game or goes idle, eir Vote no longer counts.

to:

If a Protagonist leaves the game or becomes Inactive, eir Vote no longer counts.

modify Law 1.9, changing:

Any Protagonists who were idle throughout that Dynasty may be removed from the game, at the Narrator’s discretion.

to:

Any Protagonists who were Inactive throughout that Dynasty may be removed from the game, at the Narrator’s discretion.

Just in case: Activate all Protagonists.
Deactivate all Idle Protagonists.
Activate danopato and Chronos Phaenon.

I explicitely name these two as they have each made their presense known.

Let this be yet another lesson to people that there is a _big_ difference between talking about something directly and talking about something indirectly through a reference ;P.

Oh, and did 75th not vote for at least a week? I didn’t think about it until just now, but it would have been hilarious to have marked him Idle :(.

And another thing: I think “End of Days” is contestable anyway. Law 1.2 states that Protagonists that are Idle don’t count as Protagonists throughout the rest of the Ruleset. (This is something that I sort of change in the wording for Inactive, which is the only semantic modification to the paragraph.) Therefor, from Rule 2.9’s perspective, there is no such thing as a “Protagonist” that is Idle, as if e were Idle, e wouldn’t be a Protagonist.

Oh, and next dynasty someone can remove “End of Days” and revert this change so we can stop keeping track of Idle Protagonists.

I guess my solution (see pseudo-proposal below this one) is cleaner and more permanent.

And I disagree about that damn rule being contestable. When unidling someone (under 1.2 provisions) an Admin will bring that person to be a “Protagonist being unidled”. And that action will be barred by 2.9…

Going to vote FOR all these Proposals, just to make sure the first possible one gets passed.  Someone alert me when the queue starts getting flushed so I can hurry in and CoV/Veto the superfluous ones.

Del Taco is the one that i vote for,
Cos this proposal’s one that reads too long.
That other’s humor value is worth more
than anytime that I compose a song.
I give my best apologies to you,
for this proposal seems a tasty bite.
From that, my understanding lacks a hue
of cyan, yellow, and magenta: white.
Of all confusion that this comment makes,
my mind is most perplexed as to the “why?”
the reasons to make a Shakespearan cake,
are metaphor’cly strange in this dark nigh’.
I feel that I should clearly end this now.
Let sense be damned, for cheese comes from a cow.
