Proposal: The Flamethrower Buff Josh Was Asking For

Popular at 5-0. Enacted by Brendan.

In the rule “Statuses”, reword “When an Actor is Scorched, whenever it would use a System it takes scratch damage to that system and to its Chassis.” to:

When a Bot is Scorched, any Scratch Damage it would take is multiplied by 5 and it takes Scratch Damage whenever it uses a System.

In the rule “Bot Loadout”, subrule “Systems”, change the Consumption of the System Flamethrower to 200.

Bringing the flamethrower more in line with the axe by giving it more use as a weakening tool

I like the Scratch multiplier; I think that it should retain tasking Scratch whenever it uses a system, although maybe not to both the system and the chassis.

eh, I feel like that would make the flamethrower strictly better than the axe, especially with the lower consumption

plus, we still haven’t figured out how taking scratch damage when “using” a passive system works

Since you can’t “use” passive systems, I’m not sure why you’d need to figure out scratch damage when using them? Using a system is a keyworded rule, and passive systems just do their own thing instead.

I think if flamethrower only boosts scratch damage then it becomes much more situational; it becomes very powerful for bump-builds (scorched+ram or scorched+spikes are phenomenal combos) but less useful for traditional-weapon builds, so it’s not really competing with axe at that point. I’m okay with either outcome but I do think that trad weapon builds need more love than bump-builds right now.

edited to add the old effect (normal scratch damage, not chassis + system)
