Remove from the ruleset:

If the military situation has been greater than 3 or less than negative 3 for 48 hours, and no new court allies have been associated with for 48 hours, a wizard with more influence than any other wizard has achieved victory.

Remove from the ruleset:

if they have not done so in the previous 96 hours,

Add a new rule, Showdown:

Each Wizard has an Elimination, tracked in the GNDT, with valid values of 0 (the default) and 1.

If there is only one Wizard with an Elimination of 0, that Wizard achieves victory. A Wizard with an Elimination of 1 is said to have been Eliminated. To Eliminate a Wizard is to cause their Elimination to become 1.

A Wizard who loses a Duel against a Wizard who has not been Eliminated becomes Eliminated. The Triumphant of a Duel may, within 48 hours of winning it, transfer one creature from their opponent’s stable to their own (removing a creature from their stable if necessary).

Eliminated Wizards can freely transfer their Favor and Food to other Wizards.

Eliminate the Druid. Eliminate the King.

An alternate endgame scenario. Can be expanded on. Preferable to death by apathy, and gives everyone at least a shot at victory.

Is there a reason to accept a duel?

For the time being, not especially, unless you’re confident enough that you’ll win and knock out a player.

Other than that, we could propose some changes to make it mandatory to accept Duels, if we can figure out a safe and fair way of doing that. I didn’t want to risk an oversight torpedoing the basic idea here.

Note also that eliminated Wizards are still in the game as potential allies/kingmakers.

Among other things, it’s too easy to stall the game - just don’t Duel.

Easily fixed.

I’m in support of a duel-off. The Kaia Cabal can still pool their resources, if they choose, by teammate eliminations, then food transferral and creature purchases. Seems like a more fun way to end the dynasty early.

With a few qualifications added, automatic challenge acceptance could be imposed. A fair judge and battlefield, a longer timeout period for plan submission, and an upper bound on how many uneliminated duelists can challenge you at a time.

Go out with an explosion!
