In “During Dark Ascendancy”, change

Roll DICEy, where y is the number of spells in the ruleset; the spell described in rule 2.6.y in the ruleset is cast.

to

Let x be the result of DICEy, where y is the number of spells in the ruleset; the spell described in rule 2.6.x in the ruleset is cast.

against Good spot, but rule 2.16.2 already defines x as “the number of Students whose condition is Alive” - so this would need to be z, really.

Ah, I hadn’t noticed that. This should still work as intended, though, since the value of x as defined in the previous paragraph isn’t needed anywhere else.

for Per Purplebeard. What was in variable X is replaced by the diceroll and it effect works like intended. This issue needs a fix ASAP.

Don’t we mean 2.8.x?

Kevan: yes we do.

against Self-kill. If someone wants to repropose this with the correct rule number (or just rewrite it as “cast the n’th spell”), they should probably follow Josh’s suggestion and define another variable, to avoid confusion.

I don’t see a problem with having multiple “Let X be a certain value, then do something with that value of X.” throughout the ruleset, but maybe that’s just a programmer’s mindset.

Fix proposed.

I agree, but some people are easily confused by these things (like some biologists, from personal experience).
