I’m in favour of accelerating this race (for what are probably obvious reasons). That said, this implementation effectively requires two of the Snails who are still Racing to cooperate in order to be able to finish the race before they get eaten, and I’m not sure there’s much actual chance of that happening – it may be that there are only three Snails still playing, in which case we’re effectively in a Dormancy situation (but one that won’t be officially recognised until Snails start idling out).
It rather depends on whether Snails are a) tactically not doing anything (like I was earlier in the current race), b) tuned out from the dynasty and not doing anything because it’s too difficult to understand, or c) unable to do anything yet because they need either a confederate, or to be the last Racing Snail standing, to get enough Plays to finish. (I suspect that JonathanDark may be in category c.) That said, JonathanDark will probably be able to survive three Spot Dangers and still have enough Rocket Fuel to escape from behind the Slug of Death, so this proposal isn’t unfair in that respect.
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game
where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing
and casting votes in the
comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
The game has been running since 2003 and resets every month or so. Have a look around the
wiki for more information and history. New players are always welcome and
can join in the game at any time.
"Nomic is a game in which changing the rules is a move. In that respect it differs from almost every other game. The primary activity of Nomic is proposing changes in the rules, debating the wisdom of changing them in that way, voting on the changes, deciding what can and cannot be done afterwards, and doing it. Even this core of the game, of course, can be changed."
