Proposal: The Value of Insight

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 03 Jan 2013 07:15:20 UTC

In the rule “Inquisitions” under the description of the outcome of a failed Inquisition, add the text

If the Insight of the sender is greater than or equal to double the Power score of the Target, the Auspex may send a private message including a hint regarding the Target, which may include but is not limited to the number of Believers in te Target, a particular Believer who is a member of the Target, or the location of the Target’s headquarters.

against I dislike this idea.

The only reason I proposed this was to give a reason for having Insight at all. It stands to reason that if a Believer is wise enough whole try are conducting an Inquisition, they would be able to one out at least a little about the Target. However, I am not wedded to this idea (this should not be interpreted as a self-kill), but I would like to see a reason to gain Insight.

The reason to gain Insight is to win. Whomever has the most at The End Of The World wins. Having Insight make it easier to gain Insight is not a good idea.

I still think it would be nice to have Insight do something useful besides make a person win.

But anyhow I think I’m going to go ahead and self-kill against

Just a note in case this gets reproposed - I’m wary of “the Auspex freely chooses one of the following” mechanics, as it’s not sufficiently clear whether the Auspex should pick them at random, or be “fair” and avoid repeating clues to the same players, etc.
