Passed 14-0, reaches quorum. Enacted by Angry Grasshopper.

Adminned at 16 Dec 2005 13:57:45 UTC

I whipped up a bunch of thematic icons.
For
Against
Deferential
Veto
Open / Pending

Also a new one for the title:

I propose that these icons be used!

for  I think we’ve been using the current icons for literal years, save the veto icon.

for  It is implied that I am voting for this unless I vote against it, no?

I’m a bit hesitant to change the for  against and imperial icons, since we’ve used those since Day One—or at least since my Day One.

Also, the anal part of me wishes this Proposal specified changes to the Glossary text, rather than the abstract concept of “let’s use these!”

But hey, why not?  for

Oh, and yes, Agent:  If you vote against it, it automatically fails when it comes up in the queue, and you can’t change your vote.

And a note to whomever implements this: don’t delete the current icons from the directory; move them into a subdirectory named “default” before replacing them.  (Perhaps also create a directory called “veto” and rename the veto icon “excalabur2.gif”.  We can start keeping an archive of Veto icons, so if we ever get cool enough, we can have past Vetoes have the appropriate icons.)

Nevermind, they’ve already been archived, and I did everything I just suggested doing.

Saurik: me too, but I like the idea of having [Y/N] icons. My bad on the glossary text. Will that section get modified appropriately if this gets passed?

75th Trombone: ok, thanks. That’s what I wanted to know.

Seventy-Fifth Trombone:

That was me up there, not Saurik.  ;)

And yes, it will, so far as I’m concerned. In fact it will probably happen automatically once the icons are replaced in the directory.

Saurik:

I kind of like the checkboxes, and I like that the current imperial icon is a cross between red and green, but I dislike the design of the current imperial icon, and the veto one is just weird. I vote for.

Saurik: The main reason that the Deferential icon is yellow is that when you mix red and green light, you get yellow. So, it’s still a middle ground, if you will.

AgentHH: Fair enough. ;P

75th Trombone: If/when this gets enacted, there’s a bug in the image in the heading. Since it’s using a relative path, looking at any of the posts messes with that path so the image there no longer works.
