In “Gambling”, replace “After a Game has ended, if any Bets were made on it, the following may occur:” with:-

Within 48 hours of a Game having ended with Bets made on it, the following actions may be taken with regards to that Game and its Bets:

Per Clucky’s comments elsewhere, a quick fix to stop anyone from claiming (or calling in) a Bet on a very old game that everyone had forgotten.

still have a couple of concerns:

1) this requires people to go collect old bets so they don’t expire.

Maybe something like

“After _date_ any player or the dealer may remove this paragraph from the rules and replace it with ‘Within 48 hours of a Game having ended with Bets made on it, the following actions may be taken with regards to that Game and its Bets’”

2) It should be clearer when the actions are performed. Maybe require adding a comment to the game’s table?

I agree the claim system could be better, I’m just suggesting putting a straightforward “old bets: you can’t claim them” minimum in place, as something we can maybe all agree on.

If there are older unclaimed bets, players have at least twelve hours to go and claim them while this proposal is pending.

sure, but its a bit of a bludgeon at that point. I’m not a fan of proposals that require players to defensively perform an action just incase the proposal passes because that means even if the proposal fails, its still succeeded at making you lose your competitive edge.

So while I don’t think players should have the competitive edge this proposal takes away, I also don’t think the mere existence of the proposal should take away that edge

I agree that there should be a visible marker on a Table that bets have been collected.
