Reword Rule 2.4 (Cat and Mouse) to:-
Two of the Guests are Murderers. Although unaware of one another’s identities, they both consider themselves responsible for Lord Cartlesham’s death, and they intend to eliminate anyone who stands in the way of the inheritance. Two of the other Guests are undercover Detectives. One is from Cartlesham Police Station, the other from Scotland Yard - they are investigating the circumstances surrounding Lord Cartlesham’s death, and are initially unaware of one another’s identities. The identities of the Murderers and the Detectives are not tracked publicly, and are initially known only by the Executor.
If there are ever fewer than two Murderers or fewer than two Detectives, the Executor may privately select a random player (from those who are neither Murderers nor Detectives) and privately email them with an offer to make them into a Murderer or a Detective respectively. If they accept, and if the Executor honours their acceptance, then they become a Murderer or Detective as appropriate.
In Rule 2.6 (Lights), replace “the Detective, the Murderer” with “the Detectives, the Murderers” and replace “Only the Murderer may take this Dark Action” with “Only a Murderer may take this Dark Action”.
In Rule 2.9 (Incidents), replace “not the Murderer, or not the Detective” with “not a Murderer, or not a Detective”.
The existing Detective shall be considered to be the one from Cartlesham Police Station, should that ever mean anything.
This dinner party’s getting suspiciously crowded - perhaps there are more murderers and detectives among us than we first thought?
(This also gives me a way to assign more Detectives and Murderers if the existing ones idle out, in a way that doesn’t force the role on someone who doesn’t want it.)
