Proposal: Uneasy lies the head

Passed 5-0, reaches quorum. Enacted by Angry Grasshopper. I take the liberty of removing the temples from all of you who created them before the proposal was passed. The table looks very nice in the Deity Wiki, GazeboDude.

Err, that’s not Quorm AG.—Rodney

OK, now we have Quorm. 5-0 for—Rodney

Create a new rule titled “Godhead”:

Since the Archon is asborbed with the metaphysical necessities of being and chaos, e is seldom present in the realm of the gods to rule over the planes of existence. The Archon’s seat as the divine principal is empty—any Deity may occupy it.

If a Deity is the Godhead, e may override the rule “Quintessence” and may often increase eir Quintessence by two points.

Only one Deity may be the Godhead at any time.

When this proposal is passed, no Deity is the Godhead.

What are divinities without mortals to worship them? Add a new rule titled “Temples”:

If a Deity has a current role (“Deity” field) as any god, goddess, divine entity, etc., in the Deity Wiki, then e may spend one point of Quintessence to create a Temple. Each Temple so created is listed in the Deity Wiki as a numerical total under that divinity, e.g., if the Deity has the role of Set and creates a Temple, then Set is listed as having one Temple in the Wiki.

If a Deity changes roles, than e has only as many Temples as the new god, goddess, or divine entity has in the Wiki.

Example: Deity Foo has the role (“Deity” field) of Quetzaquatl, who has four Temples in the Wiki. Foo changes roles to Vishnu, who has no Temples in the Wiki. Foo now controls no temples (and would lose the Godhead if e had it), but Quetzaquatl is still listed as having four Temples in the Wiki.

Add a new rule, “Glory”:

The Deity with the most Temples at any given time is the Godhead.

“Then I saw cities rise out of the dust again and fall back into the desert whence they had arisen; and again I slept in the Temple of All the gods save One, with my head against the altar of Dorozhand.

“Then again the Temple was alight, but not with light from the eyes of Dorozhand; only dawn came all blue out of the East and shone through the arches of the Temple. Then I awoke and performed the morning rites and mysteries of All the gods save One, lest any of the gods be angry in the day and take away the Sun.

“And I knew that because I who had been so near to it had not beheld THE END that a man should never behold it or know the doom of the gods. This They have hidden.”

against COV. This is a Rich-get-richer scenario. The person with Godhead will gain 2 per day and soon run away with a huge number of Temples.

Argh, I thought that I adminned this. Off to fix the Wiki…

Rodney, you don’t think that there’s any rule that we can add that say, changes the point system eventually?

We can allow the gods to compete over temples, or anything that gods and goddesses classical do to one another when they fight. At least that was what I had in mind.

Rodney:

You did admin this. I put a notice saying how it was an illegal action and somehow it de-admined this.

Angry Grasshopper:

23-10-2005 13:59:26 UTC

Did I admin it after you changed your vote?

Rodney:

23-10-2005 13:59:37 UTC

There might be a rule that does that, but it’s not in here. The person with Godhead is going to have much more Quint than everyone else.

Rodney:

23-10-2005 14:00:04 UTC

Yes, you did.

Rodney:

23-10-2005 14:00:44 UTC

Because if you admined it before, the proposal would be closed to voting.

Angry Grasshopper:

Ah, well, then we didn’t have a quorum of votes.

I looked up the False Odin, I didn’t know about that part of the mythology. Pretty cool.

>>The person with Godhead is going to have much more Quint than everyone else.

Yeah, we don’t have any way yet for one Deity to do nasty godlike things to another Deity, but I’m sure we’ll get around to it. Temples do get struck by lightning, flooded, covered by lava, burned by rampaging orcs, that sort of stuff, you know?

Rodney:

False Odin is a rather obscure Norse mythological entity, like Loki’s ship made out of fingernails and the other Dragons who helped Nidhogg devoure Yggdrasil. In fact, I think that Norse Mythology has more obscure parts than any other mythology, except maybe Shinto.

Anyway, I now realize that it will take a few days to run away with Godheadness during which someone could overthrow the Godhead.
