I agree with Clucky on this one. No matter the intent of the rules, the wording uses the verb “cast” in multiple places, giving it definition as to what it means for this dynasty. “cast” as it relates to spells has no definition of when it applies until that bullet:

indicating when a cast actually happens.

If another Battle Master had interpreted it a different way, and lendunistus had put up a CfJ, I would vote in his favor to receive 5 Stars in this scenario, because I think Clucky’s interpretation is the correct one.

That’s fair! I think this is just on the border between “clearly this interpretation” and “it could be either”, I didn’t expect everyone to agree with me.

I was looking over it again just now and it seems you’re right - “selecting” a spell to cast isn’t treated the same as actually casting it, which is how I interpreted it initially. Withdrawn
