Hmm…no punishment for proposals needing sk’ing. 

Being able to self-kill and immediately repropose is bad enough, but this will just generate confusion and mistakes, and discourages rigorousness when making proposals. (In fact, it’d probably end up being gamed to count as two constant, free proposals every day.)

And it won’t even work, will it? You don’t say that patches have to be enacted at the same time as the proposal that they’re patching, so it’s possible to be suffering a broken rule while waiting for the patch to be enacted.

I think this is a good idea if it is fixed to enact at the same time that its parent enacted. Maybe change the time limits so that a proposal can’t be passed until X time has passed since its patch. Kevan, it can only affect the changes made by its parent, so I don’t think you would be able to get free proposals.

we tried it a few dynasties back, it’s the reason why you can propose again if you s.k. as long as you have proposals remaining that day :)

[Alethiophile] “Must only affect the changes the linked proposal would make” is very broad, though. I can propose “Smashable Buildings” as my main proposal, and where “Some Building Types To Smash” might have otherwise been a second proposal or a section of the first, I can (and would be sensible to) propose it as a “patch” for the first proposal.
