Call for Judgment: Victory?

reached quorum for at 10-1.  adminned by cayvie.

Adminned at 13 Dec 2005 17:03:56 UTC

The approval of the DoV was unexpected. Let’s examine it.

If this CfJ passes, the DoV approval is accepted, and Seventy-Fifth Trombone is the winner of the Second Dynasty of Excalabur.

If this CfJ fails, the DoV approval is rejected.  The DoV will be REOPENED for voting for twelve hours, OR until it reaches a quorum of FOR or AGAINST votes.

We shall address the rule responsible for this interestingness in a future Proposal.

Thanks, I didn’t have a chance to comment on the DoV before it was approved. I enjoyed 75th’s sonnet, but I am not satisfied with the win:

“this state”—what does it refer to? The current gamestate? Can a single proposal be considered to have caused the entire gamestate? I say no: all proposals so far, along with other game actions, have caused it.

One Proposal didn’t cause every part of the gamestate, no.  However, without that Proposal, it would not be the same gamestate, meaning it was the cause of the gamestate as a whole.

If I had had a Proposal already pending, I might not have made the random Proposal at all, since I’d already be partly responsible for the gamestate.  However, the most recent Proposal I thought was a more convincing case for being the “cause” anyway.

for CoV ok, you’ve changed my mind. I suppose the last proposal which made a change to the gamestate (through the action of being posted) could be considered have been the cause of the gamestate at that moment. You made the DoV one minute later, so it’s not likely there were other changes in the meantime. Nice one!

for Although theroticly, 75th Trombone could post a Adress now.

for I’d welcome a musical dynasty.

I thought about doing something with music, but couldn’t figure out a good, non-cheesy set of mechanics.

I’ve been mulling over a Text Adventure (aka Interactive Fiction) dynasty theme.

A month or two back I was daydreaming, and I had a really great idea for an awesome Dynasty theme, which I promptly forgot.  Maybe I’ll remember it before I commit us to something (assuming that I end up still having that power).

I’ll give you a vote if you let me play a grue. =)

against CoV. there should at least be 10 FOR votes, in my opinion. 8 if we’re not counting Angel, Devil or Fred. The DoV is merely extended for 12 hours.

Either way, 75th will probably win.

I had a renaissance theme planned out for when lottery would pass… but my planning skills are notoriously bad, so I’m glad that 75th won.

for whoa there, let’s not get all jumpy ... yeah.  ‘grue’ has somehow found its place in philosophy as well.  ‘clue’ has not, however.

ps i think the :for: and :against: options are backwards for this cfj.  AGAINST should always be to leave things the way they are, so that we don’t have to enact anything on a failed cfj which is just skeezy.
