This doesn’t patch the problem correctly, because randomness is involved. I’d prefer something along the lines of “If a Survivor would end up having to change the Status of a Survivor that is watching him, the action succeeds as normal except that that Status is not changed”.

Thought I think even ais’ wording is incorrect, unless you actually want us tu damage the living, just not infecting them.

One final thing: In fact I don’t like at all how watching works. My original idea (back at the start of the dynasty) was going be quite different. Instead of watching the Infected, you could watch a friendly survivor to make sure others didn’t attack him/her, so it would be more like teamwork than self-defence.

I think a teamwork approach would be better too.
