Welcome to the Second Metadynasty of Rodlen

Due to circumstances spiralling rapidly out of control, I have taken the liberty of enacting the CfJ “Compromise mark 4: Again.”  48 hours have passed since it was posted, and it has not been failed, and it has more FOR than AGAINST votes; it also has the useful property of stopping the current invasion cold until the loophole is fixed.

Have a nice day.

Note that even if Rodlen unidles, he has no veto power, due to Rule 3.3.5.

Idk wtf happened the last few hrs but I honestly find it in utterly poor form for players of another nomic game to come to BN and try to take it over. They have their game, we have ours. We don’t go over there and F*** with them so why come and try to wreck ours? Its just making this *invasion* group look like a bunch of bullies and, pardon my mouth here, assclowns. Either play BN with respect to those who have been players here for yrs or go back to your own game and leave BN and its players the f*** alone!

I don’t think this invasion is in poor form (but then I’m one of the invaders). Here are a couple things that *would* have been in poor form:

1. Literally “wreck” the game by creating a long-term-unplayable gamestate, either by mucking up the rules or simply by driving up quorum and then not voting on anything. Ironically, http://blognomic.com/archive/pass_me_quick/ would bring about the first case, except the author (not an invader AFAIK) made no serious effort to get it passed and presumably didn’t actually intend it to pass.

2. Try to take over the game in a *boring* fashion, e.g. if they outnumbered the likely defenders 2 to 1 (and the defenders had no viable tricks up their sleeves) and they knew it ahead of time.

What actually happened is that they tried to take over the game in such a way that the defenders had a reasonable opportunity to mount both conventional and unconventional defenses, and lo and behold, that’s exactly what happened.  Granted, they also interrupted Bateleur’s dynasty, the merits of which are debatable (depending largely on how well or badly you felt said dynasty had been playing out beforehand).

Well, bateleur’s dynasty was already plenty interrupted, which is part of why this came about. It was seen as a quick way to end what would have been several more days of fixes and then a dynasty that everyone was already sick of.

“Literally “wreck” the game by creating a long-term-unplayable gamestate”

A Suffusion of Yellow comes to mind.

Well, I’ve certainly found this whole thing massively poor form, and I’ve lost what little respect I had left for Agora.

Mechanically the CfJ is incredibly boring (“see which group of people can persuade the most humans to spam join requests to a blog; if you win, you get to clean up the bodies!”), but idealistically it’s felt much worse - I assume most of the “we are here to fix your Nomic and save you from yourselves, no don’t bother voting on that” stuff is just in-character posturing that matches how you play your game over there, but it comes across as genuine arrogance on your part.

The sense I get is that we’re supposed to be pleased at the excitement of the invasion, and should maybe make a counter-attack back at you, and this would be a lot of fun for everyone and we’d all remember it as the time that the two Nomics went to war, but I’m not sure you really understand the difference in playing styles between the two nomics - from this side, it just feels like you’ve kicked over a game some people were playing because you decided (without asking them, without including any clause to ask them) that your game would be better. It feels like some kids with nerf guns have started shooting at our chessboard and telling us how fun it would be to start throwing the pieces back at them. Look, we’ve already made a barricade to hide behind! You could make one too!

If a random Agora player had won this dynasty and announced he’d be Emperoring the next one following the instructions of Agora Rule X, I’m sure we’d have been interested in the experiment. If a random player had recruited twenty friends to force a DoV because he wanted a Pokemon dynasty, we’d have resented it and would have grudgingly patched things up somehow, probably without playing much Pokemon. It’s sad that Agora decided that the latter was the best way to extend its internomic relations this week.

Thank you Kev for being blunter about how we feel then I was lol.

I’m sorry if it’s come across as “your nomic is broken you need us to fix it”. That’s not it at all. It’s “your nomic is broken so this is a low-activity time when people won’t get as annoyed as if this was done, say, in the middle of a very active dynasty”
