Proposal: Welcoming the Arts

Add the following to the end of the rule “Knights”

A Noble without any Knights is considered defenseless.

Every noble has a non-negative integer statistic entitled “Queued Knights” which defaults to zero. A Noble may change their Queued Knights at any time. Queued Knights are not considered to be Knights.

Add a new dynastic rule called “Artisans” and give it the following text

Every noble has a non-negative integer statistic entitled “Artisans”, tracked in the GNDT and defaulting to 0. At any point, a Noble may spend 3 Wealth to gain an Artisans.

Every noble also has a non-negative integer statistics called “Great Works” and a non-negative integer statistic called “Progress”, both defaulting to 0.

Add the following to the end of list in “Acts of War”

A Noble may spend 1 Knight to reduce a Defenseless Enemy’s Artisans by 1
A Noble may spend 2 Knights to reduce a Defenseless Enemy’s Progress by up to (and including) 5.
A Noble may spend 5 Knights to reduce a Defenseless Enemy’s Great Work’s by 1

Add the following to the end of the list in “Taxes”

* Each Noble’s progress is increased by the number of Artisans they have. If their progress is greater than or equal to 5 * (G + 1) where G is their great works, their progress is reduced by 5 * (G + 1) and their great works are increased by one. This is repeated until their progress is less than 5 * (G + 1). (With G updating each time).
* Each Noble gains 2 * G Wealth where G is their number of Great Works.
* Each Noble loses 2 * Q Wealth and gains Q Knights where Q is their Queued Knights. If they have fewer than 2 * Q, they immediately buy as many knights as possible (at the price of 2 Wealth per Knight). Their Queued Knights are then set to 0.

Adding a new vector to start generating wealth. Can be very lucrative if you have enough defenses.

The Queued Knights mechanic is there to let someone pre-convert their wealth earned from time advancement into knights, so that someone can’t advance time, and then use their wealth advantage to murder all of someones Artisans before they can buy enough defenses. It is not meant to start automating actions.

imperial Hmm. I mostly like this rule, especially if you have dignity attached to great works. The one issue I have is that I’m not sure how much the artists or great works fit into the theme. We’re supposed to be making war and capturing a throne, not building great works.

Yeah, I was thinking Great Works could probably be changed to do other bonuses. Giving dignity is a good idea. They could also provide defense. Maybe provide a way for Nobles to choose was bonus they get. But figured I was adding enough that it was best to just keep it at “generate 2 wealth” for now.
