Proposal: When did I do that?

Reaches quorum and passes 5-0. Enacted by Brendan.

Append the following text to the Rule “Atomic Actions”:

For the purposes of determining the ordering or legality of game actions the time of an Atomic Action shall be the time that it is completed.

Avoid potential CfJ’s before it happens. The main thing is to have a standard. This is the one that makes the most sense to me.

Also, what would people think about moving “Atomic Actions” to the keyword glossary? It seems like the concept would be very useful in many dynasties.

Not sure it’s ready for prime time yet - the “all its steps are considered illegal and may be reverted” bit is still gameable: if there are any dice rolls in the chain you can unroll the ones you don’t like, and there’s some weird quantum gameplay in being able to take four-fifths of an Atomic, wait 59 minutes to see if anyone reacts to this, then either undo everything or complete the chain.

I’m also concerned that there’s a bit of everything-looks-like-a-nail danger here. We only really need Atomic Actions for complex chains of events, but now that we have the keyword, it’s tempting to make everything an Atomic Action. (Restoration of the Hours would be fine, and slightly more robust, as “as a daily action, pay 1 Tick to make a blog post announcing stuff” / “if a blog post has announced stuff, anyone may mark that Hour as Restored”. Saying that the same player has to take both actions within one hour and that the first action can be retroactively undone if they don’t just adds needless complexity.)
