Upon enactment of this proposal, all Institutions shall become Powered.
Glue in the Works enacted a good twelve hours after the start of the current Cycle, which means it wasn’t quick enough to correct the bug before the Institutions became Powered this time. This proposal will ensure that the Institutions are Powered and will have an effect, when this Cycle ends.
I thought Institutions became Powered automatically at the end of each cycle, though
[Koen] The bug is that “Whenever an Institution is created or modified, it becomes Unpowered.” - when an Unpowered Institution becomes Powered, it is “modified” and therefore “becomes Unpowered”. Josh made a proposal which stopped that happening, but it didn’t enact until after the end of the last Cycle, so doesn’t have any retroactive effect. (The Cycles end after 72 hours whether or not Southpointingchariot posts to the blog about it.)
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
The game has been running since 2003 and resets every month or so. Have a look around the wiki for more information and history. New players are always welcome and can join in the game at any time.
