Proposal: Wizards of Nomicly Place

Self-Killed. -RaichuKFM

Adminned at 15 Oct 2013 06:18:04 UTC

Define the candidate list to be: Kevan, Larrytheturtle, Quirck, RaichuKFM, Spitemaster

If an apprentice whose name appears in the candidate list includes the phrase “OPT OUT” (in all caps) in a comment to this post, remove that apprentice’s name from the candidate list.

If the candidate list is empty, Clucky achieves victory. Otherwise, role a DICEN where N is the length of the candidate list. Index the result into the candidate list (with 1 corresponding to the first name, N corresponding to the last name). That apprentice (i.e. the one with the selected name) achieves victory.

Fairly sure we all could win. So letting people opt out first and then rolling a dice with everyone else.

I don’t really feel like running a dynasty so I opted out, but in the off chance *everyone* else opts out I might as well take the win… right?

Is this supposed to be a self-modifying proposal?  This is the first time I’ve seen one.

against We should be more than just “fairly sure” that each possible victor could have won. From Spitemaster’s attempt, anyone with 21 Energy, Mastery in all but one Domain (if they hopped to the Location of the one they lacked) and at least one Totem could have won. At least one player, RaichuKFM, couldn’t have afforded that.

I am also healthily sceptical of Clucky saying that he doesn’t feel like running a dynasty, yet including an explicit “Clucky achieves victory” clause! I can’t see that this is doing anything tricky, though.

Its just there to handle an an undefined error case where we’d try and roll a DICE0 and then index an empty list. No funny business.

Fair point about not everyone being able to win. Not sure where the 21 comes from though. Spitemaster already had the spells saved up but they weren’t in Purplebeards list til he cast them.

As long as you pay a totem and are in arcane, you can shave 10 points off the cost of a spell.

Having to create your own dooms for everyone but quirk is 5 + 5 = 10, plus at most 3 depending on who you are.

Then use replicate to get two totems puts you at 14, and then the victory spell (15 - 10 = 5) is 24.

So it looks like you could’ve done it, I could’ve done it, Quirk probably could’ve done it, but Larry couldn’t and Raichu couldn’t.

Kevan do you want to win? Or should we just let Spitemaster win afterall =)

For the record, if I had resolved the DoV, I would just’ve made myself 10 Totems.
