Proposal: Words and Wheels

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Give “The Wheel” a subrule called “Hedges” with the following text:

Each Amnesiac has a Hedge which is the Name of a Segment, and defaults to whichever Segment has Index 1. The Hedge is tracked on “The Wheel” wiki page. An Amensiac may change their hedge at any time.

Letter Types are “Common”,“Exotic”, and “Vowel”. An Amensiac has a number of each letter type, tracked on “The Wheel” wiki page.

Change:

Each Segment has an Index, a Name, an Effect.

To:

Each Segment has an Index, a Name, a Letter Type, an Effect.

Randomly assign each Segment a letter type.

Change:

They then apply the effect of the Segment with Index corresponding to the die roll.

To:

They then apply the effect of the Segment with Index corresponding to the die roll and add 1 of the letter type of the segment to each amnesiac with a hedge on that segment.

I’m looking for a way to keep the random word aspect of the dynasty going. Here we can slowly accumulate letters that eventually can be cashed in for words.

Don’t we also need something saying amensiacs have a list of letter types?

Also do we want hedges to be able to overlap with wagers? At the very least, might be good to default to something other than the default wager.

Overall, I’m a little worried about making the processes of spinning the wheel too tedious, but I think as long as we don’t go crazy with it this is probably fine

I thought I had added a number of letter types to each amnesiac, but it seems that I have not. darn.

The Hedge is meant to be a “Freebie Wager” that isn’t spammed.

I think Spinning the wheel is going to end up pretty involved, and deserving of its own rule, but I also think we’ll find players willing to spin it for everyone.

against Not sure I see where this is going, or where the line between Common and Exotic consonants is being drawn.

against I think this is too coarse-grained, and handing out individual letters would be better.

I’d also prefer it if everything could somehow be done using the Wager field.
