Good point. It’s probably best if this Proposal is enacted, that the Fish Function is reset no matter what, to avoid giving away its current contents.

I understand that the resetting of the current Fish Function has its own problems if guesses have already been made. Rolling those back would be too complicated, so they’ll just have to be left as-is. I also get that this may be a bridge too far for people to have the Fish Function reset in any case.

I will say that I had envisioned some future Proposal where the Fish Function might get reset anyway through some dynastic mechanism, so I don’t personally see it as an earth-shattering issue, but that’s just my opinion.

I guess I just don’t see why this is really needed. I think it’s more interesting if fish is allowed to be different from FISH

I guess the concern is that people can spam fish or fisH or FiSh and claim free dubloon s?

I expect half the guesses will be people figuring out how to game the fish function anyway.

@clucky that is exactly the concern, and it favors the person submitting Fish Indentification after the first successful name is posted. Unless the first successful guesser wants to use up their Catches submitting all the variations, the play here would be to wait until a successful guess, then spam with all the uppercase and lowercase variations and potentially rack up the doubloons.

I think it’s a more interesting game to try to guess the function rather than low-bar, minimal effort, case sensitive word spamming.
