Why have a variable-traitor mechanic unless there’s something to betray?
I’d prefer prisoner’s dilemmas more than alliances since they actually have an effect on the mid-game.
Not sure this follows. Plenty of gameplay in Katastrophe just having more powers than everyone else, at the cost of some punishment if we’re able to identify/trap/etc them.
