Proposal: No monopolies please

To “Creatures”, add:

A Creature with more Organs (note that the Statolith doesn’t count as an Organ) than any other Creature cannot exist.

I don’t want the splitting process to just be some attempt to form a “majority” faction of a sort to out-vote everyone else because it feels just lukewarm to be on the good end of these kind of plays, but it feels like total bullshit to be on the bad end.

So here’s my attempt to neuter such a situation.

against What happens when someone goes idle and causes some other creature to have the most organs?

Ah, dang. Let me know what else this would need to pass and I’ll get to it next proposal.

We need a full-fledged proposal that apportions organs to creatures in a fair way, or creates a rule describing how it can be done, with a method of rebalancing when people join or go idle.  We don’t have the mechanisms to create new creatures yet, so we don’t need “quick patch” type proposals to fix something that is not broken yet.  We need a full implementation first, and then if it’s busted we fix it afterwards.

Dude there will no chances for fixes once its busted because those fixes will just be outvoted.

So then don’t make it busted in the first place.

If someone makes the rule and hides a secret way for them to benefit in it then good job, that’s how the game works.  No one’s going to vote for something that’s obviously unbalanced, I don’t think you’ve figured this out yet.

Besides, unless there are only two creatures there probably won’t be a majority who benefits.

against I don’t think that everyone would be for a proposal just because it benefits a majority that they’re in; consider the attempted lynching from the last dynasty.

I also like the idea of a smaller creature.

against we can balance that. It might become more likely to win as part of a smaller creature statistically. Even though it seems obvious that more voters reside in a larger one, it may be possible to encourage them to split rather than risk lower chances in a bigger crowd.

There’s slice and choose, and there’s division by combat. Interesting both.
The statolith may also relay a pseudopod’s dilemma - you can be divided by secret votes. There can be a building tension that is tracked until there’s a split, if you wish.
