Proposal: A Few Acres of Snow

Times out 4-3. Enacted by Brendan.

Adminned at 24 Feb 2023 15:37:30 UTC

Add the following to the table in the rule Roughhousing:

| Douse || 10 Time, plus the Time required to travel any Routes between the Actor and the Target || The Actor must start the action in an Outside Location || Move the Actor to the Target’s Location and then reduce the Heat of the Target by 0.3.

0.3 heat seems like way too much for something that effectively costs 1 time

Agreed, I would increase the additional time to 10.

does “plus the Time required to travel any Routes between the Actor and the Target” hold up? we’re spending time to travel between routes, it’s technically not “required”

If there was a way to skip the cost of travelling routes under normal conditions, I could see it being a potentially viable scam, but I don’t see any way of skipping the cost as it stands.

“plus the Time required to travel any Routes between the Actor and the Target” does seem shaky on a couple of points:

“Travel” isn’t a keyword, so as Lendunistus suggests you could measure how much Time a player has to spend to change their location by other means. The Time cost of moving between the Shed and the Village Square is potentially zero, if you have someone else Grapple you.

And there are arguably no “Routes between the Actor and the Target”, as Routes are defined as being between Locations.

against However strictly we read this, though, I’m generally lukewarm on a bonus attack option that makes it easier for Tent players to invade the Shed than for Shed players to invade the Tent.

I don’t think any of the wording issues raised here would hold up under CfJ.
