Proposal: Adjective Police

Reached quorum 5 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

In “Items”, replace “if they can show a Secret” with “if they have publicly shared a Secret in a blog comment or wiki edit summary”.

Per Lendunistus’s observation on Discord that although they can prove that an item was in their Stash, the rules allow them to decline to actually do so.

Hmm, reconsidering my vote now—doesn’t this mean that taking ANY item out of one’s stash now means revealing ALL of your stash, if there are multiple things in there?

That’s how I was always interpreting it. How else can you prove that your Tell is correct except by revealing the entire Jotting?

I assumed it was balancing mechanism for being able to keep your Stash secret. The longer you keep it secret, the more you may have to reveal once you pull anything out of your Stash.

That may have been an intent, but it’s not how things have functioned in practice, ever since Stashes were created.

If you had stash items A, B, and C, you can reveal what your Tell was for item A at the time you added it to your Stash, and that should be sufficient without revealing B or C. It’s just that for B, you would reveal A as well, and so on.

I think this Proposal would still allow that. It says “if they have publicly shared a Secret”, but does not say “their current Secret”. So a past Secret would be fine.

[Brendan] Is it not? I think everyone apart from Lendunistus has been revealing their full Secret when converting an ambiguous Adjective into an Item; those Secrets have just never held more than one item.

Fair enough, and that’s a good point, JonathanDark—I hadn’t considered historical hashes as potentially affecting gamestate, but of course they’re still in the record.
