Reached quorum 11 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 07 Mar 2017 09:16:26 UTC

Create a rule called “Anatomy”, containing the following text:

“Each Organ has exactly one state at any given time, which is by default amorphous (-)
As a daily action, each Organ may morph to one of the following states:
- Limb
- Beak
- Ocellus

The state of each organ is tracked in the GNDT.

The Statolith, although embedded in the organism, is not classified as an Organ

I sense this will silence me for a while.

There is a twelve hour timer on passing of proposals, even if its part of the setup by the statolith at the start of the game and unanimously supported by all players. All players are also limited to three proposals a day.

I don’t know if this is considered a bug or a feature. On the one hand, it slows down the statolith’s ability to create the game. On the other hand, it means that organs immediately have the ability to start making additions, even when a vigorous statolith would otherwise churn out proposal after proposal. Perhaps those who have played longer could shed more light on this.

I don’t think there is a limit to how much can be in a proposal, other than the likelihood of an objectionable phrase increases with the size of the proposal.

We could certainly expand the power of the statolith to create more proposals, Increase the speed at which the first proposals of a statolith during his dynasty pass, or other mechanisms.

You are also free to suggest rules you’d like enacted and let the rest of us fullfill the wishes of the statolith!

There seem to be many organs. The creature may flail at awakening, this is to be expected.
The Statolith senses no disturbance of balance.

I think it’s all features. The proposal limit means we all have to work together to build the game, rather than having a single player building the game for everyone else (which isn’t really Nomic, it’s “playtesting someone’s game”). If we’re all building it, it’s a better reflection of what we want to see, and we all get to sneak in personal advantages and loopholes and backhanders along the way.

The twelve hour limit acknowledges the fact that even a quorum of players might miss a cataclysmic flaw in a proposal, particularly in the enthusiastic early days of a dynasty. I think it’s meant to approximate giving every player (whatever their timezone) the chance to at least read a proposal before it enacts. You’re less likely to wake up and find that players proposed and voted through a game-destroying clanger in your absence overnight.

Also, there’s no real difference at this point between having “Anatomy” and “Habitat” enacted, and just knowing that they’ll enact soon. Neither rule lets players take any significant game action. The important thing is that we know we’re playing a game about a Creature in a Habitat, and that we can make follow-up proposals - which we’re doing.
