In “Backronym”, replace “As a Round Action, a Wordsmith may post a Backronym.” with:
If the Acrotype is not Secret, a Wordsmith may post a Backronym as a Round Action.
If the Acrotype is Secret, a Wordsmith may post a Backronym as a virtual Round Action. The author of such a Backronym is privately tracked by the Puzzler, and the Backronym is instead posted under the name of the Puzzler.
In “Scoring”, replace “That Wordsmith did not author that Backronym” with:-
That Wordsmith did not author that Backronym (if the Acrotype is not Secret)
In “The Word Bank”, replace “A Wordsmith may not post a Backronym if the title contains any words currently found in The Word Bank.” with:-
If the Acrotype is not Secret, then a Wordsmith may not post a Backronym if the title contains any words currently found in The Word Bank.
In “Relationships”, replace “A Wordsmith’s Scoring on their Rival’s Backronym must be 1. If a Wordsmith makes a Scoring on the Backronym” with:
If the Acrotype is not Secret, a Wordsmith’s Scoring on their Rival’s Backronym must be 1. If the Acrotype is not Secret and a Wordsmith makes a Scoring on the Backronym
Add an Acrotype to the table in Acronym, with a name of “Secret” and steps of:
* Select another Acrotype at random and apply its Steps
Copy the “Virtual Actions” Building Block to the Building Block section of the ruleset.
A possible Acrotype where Backronyms are posted anonymously. Players are allowed to vote on their own, and the Word Bank is skipped since resubmissions are probably more time-consuming than tactical. Hopefully this plugs-and-plays by just making the secret submission action virtual.

If “What’s that Buzzing Sound?” is enacted, resolving a secret Backronym will reveal the author. I think that’s still ok, since the Scoring will be done by that point and won’t have the bias of knowing who posted the Backronym except by deduction.
