Proposal: Better Clearances

In the Rule titled “Ball In and Out of Play”, replace “When the Ball becomes Out of Play, all Assisting Players cease to be Assisting. ” with:-

When the Ball becomes Out of Play, all Assisting Players cease to be Assisting and all Players cease to have the Ball.

Sprucial’s recent multiple attacks on net from just inside the box called this problem to my attention.

I don’t understand. If the ball became out of play, all players ceased to have the ball by definition.

I don’t know what you mean by “all players ceased to have the ball by definition.” Sure, we’ve been doing that, but it’s not in the rules yet so I’m just making it explicit.

So I’m going remove my own ball for the most recent shot anyway because that’s the way we have been doing things, but I do see how there is vagueness about that in the rules.

I took “If no Player has the Ball, it is considered Out of Play” to be a definition of “Out of Play”.
