Proposal: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Withdrawn. Failed by JonathanDark.

In the rule “Relationships”, replace “No more than twice per dynasty, each Wordsmith may change their Rival to the name of another Wordsmith, by notifying the Puzzler” with the following:

No more than twice per dynasty, as a Virtual Action each Wordsmith may change their Rival to the name of another Wordsmith

In the same rule, at the end of the first paragraph, add the following text:

At any time, as a Virtual Action a Wordsmith may set their Rival to be no Rival.

Currently, once a Wordsmith sets a Rival, there’s no way for them not to have a Rival, which might be unfair if circumstances change and that Wordsmith determines that they may do better without having any Rival.

against I like the irrevocability of the mechanic, and “twice per dynasty” is a very clear phrasing. I’m curious whether this has been prompted by an inattentive player trying to change Rival for a third time.

I’ll withdraw this to free up the queue so that the next two proposals will allow indefinite articles in about 1-2 hours from now.  against
