To “Pigments”, add:-

A Pigment is Unnecessary if its name appears in no other dynastic rules, there are no Tiles of that Pigment’s Colour, and if its Colour is not part of any Monk’s Desideratum. If they have not done so in the past 72 hours, the Abbot should select a secretly random Unnecessary Pigment (if any exist) and remove it from this rule.

Destroys some hidden information by collapsing possibility space?

Also nudges Monks to choose a Desiderata if they haven’t already.

in theory someone could go idle and come back to their Desiderata being illegal. I’d rather find some other way to collapse the possibility space.

Blanking an idler’s illegal Desideratum doesn’t seem that bad: they get to choose a new one, and the colour they lost was one that was scoring zero on the Mosaic.

Would it get blanked? I suppose it would, as it is no longer a list of three colors.

Aren’t there worries about how this would interact with natural colors?

It would get blanked. When a Monk unidles, “if a [gamestate] value is invalid, does not exist, or the Monk Idled in a different Dynasty [...] the Monk is given the default value for new Monks”.

Problems with Natural Colours are avoided with the phrase “its name appears in no other dynastic rules”, unless I’m missing an angle on that.
