Proposal: DoV Fail

Reached quorum 7 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

In the rule “Victory and Ascension”, replace “When a DoV is failed, if it has a number of AGAINST Votes that exceed Quorum, the Knight who posted it cannot make another DoV until after 120 hours (5 days) have passed since the time their DoV was failed.” with:-

When a DoV is failed, the Knight who posted it cannot make another DoV until after 120 hours (5 days) have passed since the time their DoV was failed.

Cleaning up an item on the laundry list; DoVs can actually be failed when they have a number of AGAINST votes equal to quorum, meaning that in many cases this clause won’t fire.

I think that clause is there so that a DoV can be re-submitted if it fails Quorum.

Do we even need this time-out clause? It seems to me that the Fair Play rule already covers malicious use of the DoV mechanic.

It doesn’t cover the grey area where a player has a DoV in mind but isn’t sure it’ll work (either because it’s complex and they don’t have time to double-check their work, or because it’s a tricksy scam wording that might get booed down). Without the 5-day clause, there would be only some weak social downside to chancing a sketchy DoV. With the clause, it’s a strong incentive to get your DoV right first time.

for Because of scenarios where a sketchy DoV might pass, but it also stops the game long enough for them to make a second DoV that will definitely pass, like the Government Shutdown Dynasty, though in that case this wouldn’t have applied anyways because the second DoV was made while the first was still pending.
