Proposal: Express VETO Proposals

Passes 4-2—arthexis

Adminned at 09 Sep 2008 08:53:28 UTC

Amend rule “1.5 Enactment” by removing the line that reads: “The President Thog has voted to VETO it”, then at the end of the rule add:

When ““President Thog”” votes to VETO a Proposal, any Admin may fail that Proposal from that moment on, even if it is not the oldest Pending proposal.

If this proposal passes, Ambi Valent gains all supporters that arthexis should have gained from it, instead.

With this, you can still appeal to the President Thog to have him veto your proposal, and thus allowing you to propose again immediately.

This still doesn’t fix any of the problems with the previous proposal. If you got your proposal vetoed by the president, its your own fault and you should wait for the queue to clear.  against

Yet, I wouldn’t mind that if everybody made proposals, but just a few do, and the game gets boring when those people can’t make any more due to rule constraints. Shouldn’t we encourage players to actually play?

And you still have the rule that says that one people can’t propose more than 3 times a day, so you don’t have to be afraid of one single player spamming the system.

Sorry, but it’s my opinion that there should be no “dynastic gain” from ammendments to sections 1 or 3.

Re-propose without any supporter gain and i will vote FOR

Just noticed that this proposal doen’t state that “Unclog the Queue” has to fail.

If both proposals pass, this rule will just clutter the Ruleset

I just self-killed “Unclog the Queue” (the AGAINST votes were winning there anyway, so I didn’t do it before)

I want it known that I support this idea.  I am expresing an abstain in this because I am not a part of the actual ‘game’ this time around, thus have no grounds making a judgement of whether or not this action should warrent a gameplay advantage (through supporters) or not.

So, if this fails, I will repropose it.

@Clucky - Save for a select few, the VETO has usually been used not because of poor wording or such, but either of flavor (in which case I see no reason to penalize an individual) or because the Emperor is a jerk ;).  I don’t see a proposal getting a veto neccessarily a fault of the proposer, and if it is, then perhaps the current Emperor should think about whether it is worth vetoing, and freeing up a proposal slot.

As well, this allow an emperor that should so desire to quickly clear out ‘trash’ proposals with a veto.

Amnistar, this isn’t just a change for this dynasty, it effects the general ruleset and thys effects you as well.

Right, Which is why if this one fails I’d re-rporose it so no IN GAME effect occurs.

Qapmoc, Clucky:
The rule says: “Whenever a Proposal by a Candidate passes with fewer than two AGAINST votes…” You two have cast those votes against, so I’m not gaining.
