Proposal: Eye of Newt

Reword the Up effect of Brown Potion (and all duplicated versions of it that exist) from “Draw a Card.” to “Draw two cards.”

Reword the Up effect of Red Potion (and all duplicated versions of it that exist) from “Set a Community to be Friendly to you.” to “Set your Home to be Friendly to you.”

Reword the Up effect of Clear Potion (and all duplicated versions of it that exist) from “Discard your hand.” to “Discard all other cards in your hand and gain Thaum equal to the total Score of those cards.”

Reword the Up effect of Black Potion (and all duplicated versions of it that exist) from “Vex a Community.” to “Gain 5 Thaum and Vex your Home.”

The early potion cards all look a bit arbitrary and underpowered now, except for Red, which is probably overpowered.

for If anything, we should just remove Vexing as it wasn’t used that much and replace all places where it appears with its definition.

Potions were always underpowered. Arguably, they all still are. But these are better.

for Is there even any reason why don’t potions have down effects? That just reduces the number of strategic options for the player.

Also, the Clear potion is still going to be pointless, no (can just score the cards)?

Oh, I meant Clear to score double but must have mistyped it.

Potions having no Down effect was just my arbitrary way of trying to make the many different types of card memorably distinct (before Up and Down even did anything), and nobody has made any more since.

I’m still feeling my way around the rules, but it’s always nice to patch UP cards.  for
