Proposal: Fear of Favour

In “Favorites”, replace “as long as each of the words added to their Favorites meet all of the following criteria” with:-

as long as each of the words added to their Favorites is Favorable. A word is Favorable if and only if it meets all of the following criteria:

In “Scoring”, replace “for each word in that Wordsmith’s Favorites” with:-

for each Favorable word in that Wordsmith’s Favorites

In “Favorites”, add a paragraph to the end:-

If a Wordsmith’s Favorites include any words which are not Favorable, the Puzzler should remove those words from those Favorites, and privately inform the Wordsmith that this has happened.

For each Wordsmith who has gained Points (on a Backronym for the ARIA Acronym) from Favorites which would not be considered Favorable under this rule as amended, remove those Points.

Missed my chance to get in on this loophole, so I’ll call it out instead: it’s no longer legal to set a Favorite of “ins” or “anded” and score for those filler words, but it looks like it is legal to still have one that you set before that recent rule change was proposed, or while it was pending.

against this makes it so any favorited word immediately becomes unfavorable as soon as one of the letters in the acronym is what the word begins with.

against Oh, good point, withdrawn.

From today’s scoring it looks like this loophole wasn’t used this round anyway, but that doesn’t entirely rule out there being some older plural Filler Favorites still on the books that didn’t fire.
