Proposal: Function

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 07 Mar 2017 09:20:48 UTC

If both of the proposals Anatomy and Creature of Habitat pass then do the following:
Add the following under the “Anatomy” section of the rules

As a daily action an Organ may preform its function.
An Organ has a function depending upon it’s state.
Limb allows an Organ to move the Creature into one of the 8 squares adjacent to the Creature.
Beak allows an Organ to eat food that is in the same square as the Creature, if it knows food is there.
Ocellus allows an Organ to determine if there is food in the same square as the Creature.

Note: Food is undefined at this moment. We may wish to define it before passing it as a rule. You may wish to update this rule to give at least a stub definition.

against This isn’t really adding much to the previous proposal beyond a couple of placeholders.

Though It would have been nice to give him a chance to react and adjust to the note instead of locking down the text with votes.

Signals are flashing through the biomass.
Pre-sentient notions, conflicting nodes.
The Statolith senses a minute imbalance.

[Derrick] It would, but we have to balance this against slowing the queue down by being polite - a couple of proposals last dynasty got to 24 hours old with people still chatting in notes, and other players (presumably) feeling they had to hold back on voting until the conversation was cleared up.

Maybe it’s time to propose a timeout for notes. There are obvious problems with a post-notes version 2.0 of a proposal (possibly rewritten from scratch) only getting 24 hours of voting and scrutiny before it times out.

Also, the next proposal in the queue here is “let the Statolith vote and propose again”, so we should definitely keep things moving here.

[Kevan] I will admit there is a lot to be said to quickly moving on at this point in the game. But the notes and review situation could in fact use some extra love.

I’ll leave this open until it has no chance of winning, the difference in movement should give people enough reason to decide between this and the Movement proposal.

[derrick] What about a change to the core rules regarding notes? Something like:
Proposal: Note Fix
Add to the section “Proposals”

Proposals have two states, closed and open. Submitted proposals start out with the open state. Open proposals may be voted on and closed proposals cannot be voted on but may be self-killed. When a comment is made that begins with “Note:” and it contains no voting icons, then the proposal’s state is closed. Each Organ may only close a given proposal once. If a proposal is closed, then it may be set to open under the following conditions:
When all of the players who have closed a proposal post another comment containing an arrow or all of the comments that close a proposal are over 2 hours old.

Change “If no Organ has commented on it, or if the only comments on it begin with “Note:” and contain no voting icons, an official post may be altered or removed by its author;” to-

If no Organ has commented on it, if no votes are cast while it’s state is open, or if the only comments on it begin with “Note:” and have no voting icons, then an official post may be altered or removed by its author;

Ah, I’ll just make a discussion about the above comment.  against
