Game speed feedback

A week into the dynasty, I think it’s worth taking a sounding on how people feel about the recent timing change on early proposal enactment (previously 12 hours, upped to 24 at the end of the last dynasty). Have people found that it’s improved or impaired their early game experience?

I had forgotten the proposal enactment time used to be shorter and am realising this probably explains why I am finding it easier to keep up!

I don’t think it’s a had a huge impact on the rate at which proposals get enacted, although it’s reduced the extent to which one player can dominate the early proposals, which is a good thing.

It has been easier to keep up with the proposals due to the longer voting windows.

One potential negative side effect is that it becomes more important for proposals to take into account the other proposals in the queue, rather than just being written against the current ruleset, and that’s quite hard to do – multiple players (including me) have messed that up this dynasty. So we might have lost a day or two in making the corrections (although that’s mostly just given us more time to discover other corrections that need making).

I think the Timekeeper nature is having an influence too, though – if we were trying to play while the initial proposals were being set up, rather than waiting until afterwards, it would increase the number of actions that could be taken while the ruleset were in a bad state. So we might need experience to see how it interacted with a more regular timer (although, in past dynasties the dynastic gameplay has usually been slow relative to the core gameplay, so this might even it up a bit more).

I like it so far, and having the Shadow Ruleset helps as well, although that part is highly dependent on the fact that we have these rounds and phases.
