Call for Judgment: Games and rounds are synonyms

Timed out and enacted, 3-1. Josh

At present, the ruleset uses the terms “game” and “round” pretty interchangably to describe tic tac toe. This has led to a difference in interpretation between Clucky and myself. He thinks that the ruleset defines games of tic tac toe and implies that rounds exist as a different category of entity, despite not being defined in the ruleset; I think that the ruleset treats them as synonyms. This CfJ establishes the second reading.

Treat cell C3 as having my Symbol in it as of 07:56, 20 February 2022. In the rule The Grid, after the clause ‘Tic-Tac-Toe is a game that is played on a Grid”, add ‘that is played in rounds’. Change every subsequent use of the word ‘game’ in that rule to ‘round’

I’ll also add that I think it makes more sense for each round of tic tac toe to start on a level playing field, so this interpretation is better for the game, regardless of the merits.

This would allow a group of players to get on at midnight, make a series of moves that ends a round; then make a new series of moves to start a round; all while someone not online at that time sleeps.

I’m not convinced that makes the game better. Granted, a lot of those problems stem from issues with daily actions to move and not the reset rules in particular.

A move away from daily actions is one I could get behind, sure.
