Add a new rule, called Castes:
Memories of Atlantis each have a Caste, which is privately tracked by the Linguistics Team. A Memory of Atlantis’ Caste can be one of the following: Noble, Artist, Merchant or Labourer.
Whenever a Memory of Atlantis joins the game (either as a new player or through unidling for the first time) then the Linguistics Team should select a Caste for them secretly randomly, and inform them of their Caste, as well as any other Memories of Atlantis they share a Caste with.
Each Caste has a level of Influence, which is privately tracked by the Linguistics Team. Any time an Argument is enacted then the Caste of the Argument’s Author increases by 1.
Set the Caste of each Memory of Atlantis as if they were a new player.

This doesn’t appear to give any way for existing players to be given a caste at the time of enactment.

Also this is a more minor point, but you could interpret the first line of the rule as that each memory has a unique caste. In context though, that interpretation falls apart.

Thanks - changes made

What do we represent as players? I was interpreteing “Memories of Atlantis” as meaning that we were chunks of memetic material that had survived the sinking - if we have Castes, does that make us the individual memories of specific, dead Atlanteans?

I guess that’s part of what this proposal is exploring! I’m not sure either, and would be fine with this being voted down / amended in the name of narrative consistency.
Maybe the answer is between the two - the physical and metaphysical remains of small communities?

[GloopyGhost] Yes, we can privately ask for secret information to be repeated to us: Appendix Clarifications include “If a Memory of Atlantis should already know such a piece of information (in that the Linguist Team has already told them it, or vice versa, and there is no way that the information could have been changed since then), the Linguist Team may repeat it to them.”

GloopyGhost:
True, but the level of Influence does change (or at least I believe it is meant to).
Kevan: he/him
Ah, good point.
Josh: he/they
At present Influence is not revealed, no.
GloopyGhost:
Since it’s not specified, it would default to 0, correct?
Josh: he/they
Yep
