Proposal: GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLL!

Fewer than a quorum of players not voting AGAINST. Failed 1 vote to 4 by Kevan.

Adminned at 28 Feb 2023 09:08:40 UTC

If “A selection of victory conditions” is enacted, this Proposal has no effect.

In the rule “Goals”, add a subrule titled “Winning By Goals” and give it the following text:

A Villager is considered “Near Victory” if all of the following are true:
* Among all of the Villagers who are not Unconscious or Lifeless, at least half of those Villagers (rounded up to the nearest integer) have a non-empty Rejected Goals value
* The Villager has met the conditions of the Active Goals

If only 1 Villager is Near Victory, they achieve victory. If multiple Villagers are Near Victory, the Villager who is Near Victory and has more Heat than any other Villager that is Near Victory achieves victory.

This does enable victory, but only if people who are able to take dynastic actions participate in the Rejected Goals mechanic. I’m deliberately not addressing ties in Heat if it should come to that. I’ll let someone else work that bit out.

against on the basis that quite a few villagers have already completed or are close to completing the majority of the goals

(and I’d rather not start micromanaging my rejected goals)

against This flips on Endgame Lockdown, which would kill off every pending proposal in the queue.

@Brendan: does it? I count 5 Villagers currently Conscious, and even if Darknight goes idle, that will still leave 4, which should not flip on Endgame Lockdown. I feel fairly confident that the remaining 4 of us are in it for the long haul.

@JD “If no more than three Villagers are Conscious and a dynastic rule other than this one includes the word “victory””

Fair enough, I misread the conditional there; my statement that it would kill off the queue is wrong. That said, I’m not in the lead for Heat even counting my Thermos—assuming Kevan just picked up one of those himself—so my vote stands.

Ok, now that’s fair: self-interest makes sense here

against Active Goals do seem likely to end up being the most commonly-attained ones, which means the defining action of the dynasty will be whoever sets their Goal last and triggers the endgame tiebreak. I’m not sure exactly how that would play out, but it feels like there’d be a heavy dose of timing and luck in it.
