Proposal: Guardians of the House

Change all references in the Ruleset of “Admin” and “Admins” to “Steward” and “Stewards”.

As I just posted, Admin isn’t really a good term for the job. Steward sounds less like a position of power and more like a dude who’s keeping the game running smoothly, which is more appropriate.

against Admin is fine. It would be too confusing.

Also, I think very good grounds could be made that if we replace “Admin(s)” with “Steward(s)” just in the ruleset, and don’t make all admins steward(s), than everyone who is an Admin stays an Admin and we suddenly lose anyone who can legally update the ruleset.

Agora uses Officer in this context. Admin is reasonably clear, though, especially as the role is an administrative one from the point of view of the blog technology.

(I see “officer” as quite different - it’s solely a rules-defined position and does not correspond to any technical power.  “Admin” strongly implies technical power.)

@omd: Well, the only technical role in Agora is Distributor, and it isn’t even mentioned anywhere in the rules, just a game custom thing.

against The kind of person who wants to just show off the badge would also want to show off a “Steward” badge.

against I’ll just go with the traditional “admin”. Changing it would confuse people and we’ll have to inform everybody about it.
